WHAT WE DO
Sister Squad Outreach Service
Our specialised outreach mentoring service offers comprehensive support and intervention measures to address the unique challenges faced by fatherless girls and young women with complex needs.
Sister Squad outreach service is a direct response to compelling research published in March 2022 by the Agenda Alliance & Young Women's Justice Project.
LAYERS: LOOKING INSIDE HOLLOWAY PRISON
In partnership with Power Play Productions, Daddyless Daughters directed and produced LAYERS: LOOKING INSIDE HMP HOLLOWAY an immersive exhibition of photographic portraits, letters and filmed testimonies that reveals the breadth of lives touched by the criminal justice system - showcasing 30 former prisoners of different ages, races and classes. It launched with a 5-day run at South London’s Copeland Gallery in March 2023, over 6,550 people visited the show over its 5 days, over 838 people attended our events and 637 people attended our private view. In 2023, Holloway Prison - once the largest women’s prison in Europe - was demolished.
Before the bulldozers arrived, thirty former prisoners chose to return to the now crumbling site to tell their stories. LAYERS is the culmination of a year-long community project giving former prisoners access to the empty site in a therapeutic and trauma-informed way. It was run by Daddyless Daughters whose founder of DD Aliyah Ali is herself a former Holloway Prisoner and Powerplay Productions.

“I have never been so moved by an exhibition, I went 3 times so I could fully take in each woman's story and to have time to absorb it”
-
“Moved me to tears... I feel honoured to have read about their experiences and so angry at the failing system”
-
“I cried of sadness, joy and hope”

WHAT WE DO
This research sheds light on the overlapping themes and experiences of marginalised girls and young women engaging with the Criminal Justice System. Our outreach program also addresses findings from The Commission Young Lives and Manchester Metropolitan University revealing up to 60,000 girls in England, often associated with gangs, face vulnerability to serious violence, yet they remain largely invisible in the existing gang prevention services, which primarily focus on boys.
WHAT WE DO
Sister Squad aims to address these critical gaps, providing much-needed support and intervention for vulnerable young women particularly those in care or edge of and those affected by family breakdown, abuse and adversity by educating and empowering them to build positive and fulfilling lives free from trauma and complex behaviour patterns.
We support young women and girls between the age of 14 – 25, who are identified as;
